Design for LivingThe Design for Living Partnership, which comprises AMH, The Youth Council for Northern Ireland and the Health Promotion Agency for Northern Ireland, has facilitated a series of seminars concerning young people for a number of years. The seminars aim to build capacity among practitioners from many disciplines who work with young people in Northern Ireland. The Partnership have commission 3 papers which are available below to download. The Nature of Self-Esteem – Dr Tony HumphreysAn annual seminar in the series aims to support and develop young people’s self-esteem. This key issue paper has highlights the nature of self-esteem. The paper is written by Dr Tony Humphreys, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, international speaker and author. This paper highlights key issues in the area of masculinity and mental health. The paper is written by Dr Ken Harland, Lecturer in Community Youth Work at the University of Ulster and Co-director of the Centre for Young Men’s Studies within INCORE at the Centre of Excellence for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Ulster. AMH New Horizons Celebrate 20 Years in Newry & Mourne!Clients and staff from AMH New Horizons had a special birthday party at the Canal Court Hotel in Newry. AMH opened its doors in Newry 20 years ago and now boasts two locations in the area at Greenbank Industrial Estate and Canal Street. Billy Named Student of the YearAMH Promote Action’s Skills Coach Billy Nesbitt has been awarded WEA Student of the Year for his continued work in Mosaic and ongoing development of clients’ skills, despite facing stiff competition from all over Northern Ireland. AMH Helping Out At Glebe HouseFourteen clients from AMH New Horizons will be volunteering at Glebe House, a residential centre 3 miles from Strangford village. Clients will be working in the Community Garden taking care of general maintenance and also planting for the Spring and Summer Seasons. This voluntary work will support the Personal Development training the clients are currently undertaking and also their New Year’s resolution – to give something back to the local community.
