volunteer experiences

"Giving your time to simply have a conversation with someone can be one of the most instantly rewarding parts of volunteering."

"I would recommend volunteering to anyone, as the amount of time you give can be equally rewarded with the experience you gain, and the experiences you share."

Volunteering – What can you do to help?
AMH have volunteers from all walks of life who work anything between one to five days per week. The volunteers offer their time, enthusiasm and wealth of experience to the various AMH service across N. Ireland. Volunteers are predominately involved in group settings or one to one supporting people recovering from a mental illness or individuals with learning disabilities through courses or in the various departments. AMH has volunteers who are also involved in the administration side of AMH’s work both in the AMH services and in the head office. If you are interested in becoming an AMH volunteer contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator on T 028 9040 5933 to receive more information on the AMH services and a Volunteer application pack.

Fundraising – What can you do to help?
Each year AMH work with over 1700 people with mental health needs or a learning disability throughout Northern Ireland . It is a massive task, costing nearly £4m a year, but when you consider that Mental Illness is one of the largest single health problems in NI, the cost is perhaps not surprising.

While we receive support from companies and grant giving organisations, we always need more.
