AMH VOTE offers a varied training and personal development programme to young people, aged 16-25, in Craigavon and Banbridge area who have a learning disability. The service has a particular focus of supporting people through the transitional period into adulthood and independence, providing opportunities in three key areas:
1) Vocational
Trainees can achieve vocational qualifications in areas of interest to them that will enhance their employability and personal skills. Opportunities to obtain NVQ, ECDL, ASDAN , City & Guilds, OCN and other qualifications are available. Trainees will also be encouraged and supported to progress on to higher qualifications if appropriate.
2) Healthy Lifestyle
Trainees participate in activities designed to improve healthier lifestyle choices, physical and mental health.
3) Employment
Trainees engage in an individual development plan that meets expressed and identified need in relation to employment aspirations. Learning and support covers job preparation, job sourcing and on-site job coaching.
AMH VOTE will

- Provide a structured programme designed to increase skills and confidence
- Identify and promote suitable job sampling options to all trainees & develop opportunities for trainees with local employers

AMH VOTE training opportunities are tailored to suit the learning needs of each trainee and include:

WORK
AMH VOTE also provide trainees with prevocational training, development planning and job sampling, which enables people to make an informed choice on the type of career they wish to pursue. AMH VOTE staff will endeavour to ensure that this is a positive experience for all trainees by providing ongoing support within appropriate work placements.
Job sampling initially last for 6-8 weeks, with trainees attending for 1-3 days per week. AMH VOTE staff will assist trainees throughout their placement, withdrawing support when the trainee’s independence and confidence grows. AMH VOTE staff will also provide support to the host employer, creating enhanced disability awareness.
