The Summer Solstice (the longest day) is June 20th and marks the astronomical beginning of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere – A Day in which we will have the longest period of daylight.
With that in mind we had planned our Slieve Donard Trek to coincide with this date.
Unfortunately, with current guidelines regarding the Covid-19 outbreak we are unable to hold this event but we are asking you to “step up” to the challenge at home! An ascent and descent of Slieve Donard is approximately 2230 steps so we are challenging you to take on this feat yourself whether it be using a fitness or aerobic step, or the stairs or steps at home or in your garden.
Get on video chat with your family or friends, or with your local sports club/gym and complete it together as a group. Physical fitness is particularly beneficial for your mental health so we are challenging you to “step” into summer and help us shine the light on mental health this Summer Solstice.
Action Mental Health relies on the support of fundraising and donations to provide many of its services within the local community. You can set up a fundraising page for your Virtual Slieve Donard challenge, to support our work by visiting:
